or rescue groups. With all the homeless animals in the world today, there is no reason why someone looking for a family
pet should not adopt. Whether you are looking for a lovable mutt or a purebred, there is a dog out there desperately
waiting for a forever home.
Not only will you be giving a homeless pet a home, there is also the added benefit
of adopting an adult in that you'll know what you are getting; in size, appearence and behaviour, and you get to skip the
extremely demanding puppy stage. Many shelters and rescues also have puppies from time to time if you are wanting that
cute little baby boy or girl.
If you are looking for a purebred, the first step is to contact the national breed
club and ask about their rescue programs. In most cases you will be asked to fill out an adoption application.
This helps the rescue group match you to the right pet and to know that the animal is going to a good home.
